Grab your boots and get ready for a mechanical bull ride because Gilley’s, the honky-tonk bar and dance hall made famous in the 1980’s movie “Urban Cowboy” is coming to League City. Developers are in the final permitting phase for the Site map entertainment facility and restaurant, and will begin construction in 2020 on a 16-acre site at the intersection of Link and Calder roads. The concept is reminiscent of the original Gilley’s that opened in Pasadena; however, it will be more family-friendly and part of a larger mixed-used development that will include retail shops and a hotel with meeting and conference amenities.
The League City Gilley’s will be similar to a Dallas location that features a restaurant as well as entertainment, meeting, and private function space.
