A group of 72 high school senior football players from the Greater Houston area will put their football talents on display in the Greater Houston Football Coaches Association Bayou Bowl all-star game scheduled for 7 p.m., June 8 at Challenger Columbia Stadium in League City.
This annual event, which is being hosted by Clear Creek ISD and sponsored by Visit League City for the first time,
This year’s game marks the sixth time in the game’s 21-year history that players from the Houston area will collide in an East vs. West format. The West has won the first four meetings dating, with the East prevailing 37-36 last year at Stallworth Stadium in Baytown.
The Bayou Bowl, which can count several NFL players among its alumni including Brandon LaFell, Brian Orakpo, and Danny Amendola to name just a few.
The game, which will be televised live on KTRK – Channel 13, serves as an annual fundraiser for the GHFCA with proceeds from the event and an accompanying golf tournament supporting scholarships that range from $1,500 to $2,500 for both male and female athletes in the Houston area.
